Locality based Core Selection for Multicore Shared Tree Multicasting
نویسندگان
چکیده
Multicasting can be done in two different ways: source based tree approach and shared tree approach. Protocols such as Core Based Tree (CBT), Protocol Independent Multicasting Sparse Mode (PIM-SM) use shared tree approach. Shared tree approach is preferred over sourcebased tree approach because in the later construction of minimum cost tree per source is needed unlike a single shared tree in the former approach. In this paper, we present a candidate core selection approach for shared tree multicasting so that in a multicast session different senders can select different cores from the candidate core set based on the senders’ physical locations to allow an efficient multicore multicasting approach. keywords: core selection, pseudo diameter, multicore multicasting

متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of MPI, UPC and OpenMP on Multicore Architectures
The current trend to multicore architectures underscores the need of parallelism. While new languages and alternatives for supporting more efficiently these systems are proposed, MPI faces this new challenge. Therefore, up-to-date performance evaluations of current options for programming multicore systems are needed. This paper evaluates MPI performance against Unified Parallel C (UPC) and Ope...
متن کاملShared Memory Abstractions for Heterogeneous Multicore Processors
We are now seeing diminishing returns from classic single-core processor designs, yet the number of transistors available for a processor is still increasing. Processor architects are therefore experimenting with a variety of multicore processor designs. Heterogeneous multicore processors with Explicitly Managed Memory (EMM) hierarchies are one such experimental design which has the potential f...
متن کاملUnderstanding Concurrency for Graph Workloads in Large Scale Multicores
Algorithms operating on a graph setting are known to be highly irregular and unstructured. This leads to workload imbalance and data locality challenge when these algorithms are parallelized and executed on the evolving multicore processors. Previous parallel benchmark suites for shared memory multicores have focused on various workload domains, such as scientific, graphics, and vision. However...
